About the Role:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Programme Officer NTDs to join our team in Benue State. The Programme Officer will manage daily activities and execute programmes with partners, enhancing the quality of Sightsavers’ initiatives. This role involves implementing five Preventive Chemotherapy (PCT) Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in Benue State, delivering NTD programme targets, and providing technical support, impact assessments, and advocacy for NTD elimination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Programme Management:
    • Manage all aspects of the project cycle, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, financial and asset management, reporting, and documentation for the Benue NTD project.
    • Implement five PCT NTDs in Benue State, ensuring programme targets are met.
    • Provide technical support and leadership to the Benue State NTD Team.
  • Partnership & Collaboration:
    • Build effective relationships with partners, promoting shared learning and collaboration.
    • Support partners in identifying and addressing technical and capacity-building needs throughout the project cycle.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with the Benue State Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to integrate sustainable plans into public health systems.
  • Advocacy & Representation:
    • Represent Sightsavers at State-level meetings and ensure information flows across teams and partners.
    • Build and maintain relationships with NGOs to support funding and service delivery, including those in the WASH sector.
    • Advocate for NTD elimination and strengthen visibility through partnerships and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation & Research:
    • Monitor and evaluate NTD programme performance, identifying opportunities for operational research.
    • Ensure projects conduct research and publish findings in international peer-reviewed publications.
    • Assist in disseminating information on NTD activities, studies, research, and lessons learned.
  • Financial & Resource Management:
    • Manage budgets and ensure effective financial and resource management within the programme.
    • Provide high-quality information on case studies and news stories to support fundraising efforts.

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Social Sciences, Development Studies, Public Health, Education) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in project management within a community development programme, preferably within an NGO.
  • Strong knowledge and working experience of NTDs.
  • Experience in influencing high-level government officials and NGO leaders.
  • Excellent analytical, financial, and resource management skills.
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Ability to deliver group training sessions and manage culturally and ethnically sensitive issues.
  • Experience in advocacy work and building strategic partnerships.
  • Willingness to travel regularly on a national basis.
