Media & Marketing Manager at a Lottery Commission

In 2020, the Federal Government of Nigeria made the strategic decision to establish a National Lottery, in order to provide increased opportunities for Nigerian citizens to participate in lottery games, enjoy entertainment, and potentially win life-altering prizes, all while facilitating wealth redistribution and generating substantial revenues for the advancement of social and economic objectives. National Lottery Nigeria was created as a tool for social intervention and supporting charitable causes and to facilitate development in different sectors like Education, Sports, Health, Climate change, Business and many more. This initiative is supported by the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Job Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and results-driven Media/Marketing Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in media communications and marketing, with experience in gaming, telecommunications, or related technology fields.
  • This role involves developing and executing comprehensive media and marketing strategies to drive brand awareness, leading up to sales conversion, and revenue generation.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage a high-performance team, set goals, delegate tasks, and provide performance feedback.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including media personnel, studio staff, and the press.

Strategic Planning and Budgeting:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive media and marketing strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Implement cost-effective marketing initiatives that deliver a strong ROI.
  • Maximize impact through efficient budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Find alternative solutions and maximize existing resources.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and audience needs.
  • Develop and manage marketing budgets, tracking and measuring campaign success using KPIs.

Marketing Expertise:

  • Utilize knowledge of traditional and digital marketing channels, including social media, content marketing, public relations, advertising, SEO, and SEM.
  • Execute integrated marketing campaigns across multiple channels.

Partnership & Relationship Building:

  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships with media outlets, influencers, and relevant organizations.
  • Secure mutually beneficial partnerships and maintain strong connections with partners.

Media Relations and Communication:

  • Liaise with traditional and new media outlets to enhance brand awareness and growth.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with journalists, press representatives, and influencers.
  • Craft press releases, media pitches, and other communication materials.
  • Manage crisis communication and media management.

Event Planning and Management:

  • Utilize events to generate brand awareness, create buzz, and achieve marketing objectives.
  • Capture valuable audience data and track event success using relevant metrics.

Content & Communication:

  • Draft compelling and newsworthy press releases and other communication materials.
  • Provide content direction for various media channels (social media, website, blog).
  • Write compelling and engaging copy for various digital marketing materials.
  • Using UX writing skills to improve user experience by providing precise and concise copy that guides users through our products.
  • Create or identify high-quality content that resonates with specific audiences.
  • Write Scripts for publications, and content calendars
  • Contribute to the company’s medium blog for on-page and off-page optimization.

Creative Management & Agency Relations:

  • Draft and review creative materials for advertising campaigns and social media content.
  • Manage relationships with external agencies (e.g., advertising agencies, public relations firms) to ensure high-quality work within budget and deadlines.

Good Causes Coordinator:

  • Align good causes initiatives with the company’s marketing goals.
  • Develop and implement cause-related marketing campaigns that generate awareness and support for worthy causes.
  • Manage cause-related marketing campaigns from inception to execution, ensuring they meet both marketing goals and social impact objectives.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships with non-profit organizations and social impact initiatives.

Requirements

  • B.Sc / MBA in Marketing, Advertising, Media Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Resident in Abuja, and available for on-site job.
  • Experience in brand management and storytelling.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Professional presentation skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi task effectively.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Media/Marketing in Telecommunications, Gaming/Betting, or an Advertising Agency.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the lottery industry.
  • Proficiency in digital and traditional marketing.
  • Project management skills to oversee multiple marketing initiatives simultaneously.
  • Data analysis and reporting skills to track and measure marketing performance.
  • Budget management and negotiation skills.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and trends in the marketing landscape.
  • Existing relationships with media outlets and PR influencers are an added advantage.
  • Aptitude for technical understanding of products.
  • Experience in crisis communication and media management.
