Human Resources Manager at an Oil and Gas Company

We are currently seeking to fill the following position:

Job Title: Human Resources Manager
Location: Amadi Base, Port Harcourt – Rivers
Contract Type: Permanent

Role Overview:

As the Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing all HR processes within the organization. Your goal will be to ensure that the company is supported by a highly competent, engaged workforce, operating at maximum efficiency while maintaining cost-effectiveness. You will also contribute to the implementation of HR policies and practices that align with the company’s objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct job analysis and evaluations, creating clear and accurate job descriptions for all roles.
  • Develop, update, and implement HR policies and procedures in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Lead manpower planning and recruitment efforts, ensuring the right talent is sourced.
  • Manage industrial relations, focusing on unionized work environments.
  • Oversee contract management, conflict resolution, and negotiations.
  • Utilize HRIS tools to streamline HR functions and ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Manage employee orientation, onboarding, and job installation processes.
  • Develop and implement performance management systems to foster talent improvement and competence.
  • Conduct training needs analysis, create training plans, and facilitate employee development programs.
  • Handle employee relations, welfare, and compensation and benefits management, including payroll oversight.
  • Provide guidance on employee discipline, ensuring compliance with the company’s policies.
  • Independently manage HR budgets and monitor the financial efficiency of HR activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or a related field from a recognized institution.
  • A Postgraduate certification or a Master’s degree in Human Resources is a plus.
  • Membership in a recognized HR professional body (e.g., CIPM, SHRM, CIPD) is an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years of comprehensive experience in HR, with a minimum of 4 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven experience in multinational organizations, particularly in the oil and gas sector, is preferred.
  • Proficiency in HRIS tools and strong analytical skills for data management.
  • Expertise in employee relations, organizational behavior, and change management.
  • Solid understanding of labor laws and payroll management processes.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate and maintain a customer-friendly approach.
  • Creativity, innovation, and a high level of integrity.
