Human Capital Partners (HCP) is proud to support our client, the Lagos Water Corporation (LWC), a Lagos State Government agency and the primary provider of potable and safe water to over 18 million residents of Lagos State, Nigeria. Established in 1910 with the construction of the Iju Waterworks, LWC has expanded its operations to meet the growing demand for clean water. With a current installed water production capacity of 210 million gallons per day (MGD), LWC is working towards increasing this capacity to 745 MGD through the Lagos Water Supply Master Plan.

As part of its efforts to strengthen operations and enhance service delivery, LWC is seeking a dedicated and technically skilled Distribution and Network Officer to join its team.

Job Summary:
The Distribution and Network Officer will oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of the water distribution network, ensuring the reliable delivery of potable water to consumers. This role involves monitoring network infrastructure, addressing distribution issues, and maintaining the integrity of the water supply system. The position is critical to achieving LWC’s mission of providing safe and sustainable water to Lagos State residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Management and Monitoring:
    • Monitor and manage the water distribution network to ensure optimal performance.
    • Identify and resolve issues related to water distribution, including leaks, blockages, and pressure fluctuations.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance:
    • Oversee the maintenance and repair of pipeline infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted water supply.
    • Conduct regular inspections and assessments of network assets.
  • Compliance and Safety:
    • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in all network operations.
    • Implement best practices for water distribution and network management.
  • Project Implementation and Technical Support:
    • Provide technical support for water distribution projects, including pipeline construction and rehabilitation.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Customer Service and Back-up Support:
    • Address customer complaints and inquiries related to water distribution.
    • Provide backup support during emergencies and system failures.
  • Data Collection and Reporting:
    • Collect and analyze data on network performance and water distribution.
    • Prepare detailed reports for management and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in water distribution, network management, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of water distribution systems, hydraulic principles, and pipeline infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in GIS software, SCADA, and other network management tools.
  • Certification in water distribution or related fields is an added advantage.
  • Membership in professional bodies such as NSE/COREN is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in field conditions and respond to emergencies outside regular working hours.
