Role Overview
We are seeking a Budget Officer to support the Director of Budget in managing the financial planning and budgetary processes of the University. This role involves budget development, financial analysis, expenditure monitoring, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies. The ideal candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial stability and supporting strategic decision-making at AUN.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and managing the University’s operating, administrative, and capital budgets.
- Conduct budget analysis, financial forecasting, and revenue projections to support financial decision-making.
- Prepare and present budget reports to management and external auditors.
- Monitor expenditure and ensure budget compliance across all departments.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide recommendations for budget adjustments.
- Assist in reviewing and processing contracts, subcontracts, and agreements in line with University policies.
- Perform cost-benefit analyses to evaluate financial efficiency and alternative funding methods.
- Collaborate with departmental managers to align budget allocations with institutional goals.
- Ensure all budgetary operations adhere to University policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Provide technical support on budget preparation, cost analysis, and financial reporting.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is an added advantage.
- Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
- Experience in budget preparation, financial analysis, and reporting, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
