Job Summary:
Qatar Charity Nigeria is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Social Welfare Officer to join our team in Abuja. This role is critical in ensuring the well-being of sponsored individuals, particularly orphans, and other vulnerable groups. The successful candidate will work closely with the Social Welfare Office to implement social welfare programs, monitor beneficiary progress, and ensure the delivery of high-quality services in line with Qatar Charity’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth social case studies using established social research methodologies to assess the needs of beneficiaries.
  • Daily follow-up with sponsored individuals across all categories to ensure their well-being and address any concerns or complaints.
  • Implement and monitor activity plans for children, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met, including feeding, dressing, and administering medication.
  • Oversee the delivery of services to beneficiaries, ensuring compliance with professional standards and Qatar Charity’s guidelines.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports on beneficiary progress, achievements, and challenges, adhering to Qatar Charity’s reporting mechanisms.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism and integrity.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including government institutions and community partners, to enhance service delivery.
  • Monitor the timely disbursement of beneficiary allowances and ensure accuracy in documentation.
  • Develop and execute weekly/monthly action plans under the guidance of the Sponsorship and Social Welfare Officer.
  • Perform data entry and maintain up-to-date records of sponsored individuals.
  • Facilitate access to beneficiaries for monitoring, evaluation, and follow-up activities.

Qualifications:

  • A university degree in Sociology, Social Work, Social Services, or a related Social Science discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in social supervision or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Fluency in Arabic (both spoken and written) is a prerequisite for this role.
  • Strong command of the English language (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and achieve results with minimal supervision.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in social networking and community engagement.
  • Knowledge of cultural sensitivities and the ability to work respectfully within diverse communities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
