The Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) is Nigeria’s foremost school of journalism, specializing in the training of journalists and mass communication professionals. Established in 1963 and fully operational since 1971, NIJ has over 50 years of experience in training and retraining journalists. Renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities, including fully equipped ICT hubs, radio and TV studios, editing labs, and photo studios, NIJ offers programs such as National Diploma, Higher Diploma, specialized programs, and short-term certificate courses. Our commitment to hands-on practical training and a faculty of seasoned academics and industry professionals makes NIJ the ideal choice for aspiring journalists and communication experts.

We are currently recruiting for the following positions:

  1. Lecturer II (Computer Science) – CONTISS 9
    • Qualifications:
      • Master’s Degree in Computer Science from a recognized university.
      • Professional IT qualifications with six years of teaching/research experience.
      • Membership of a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
  2. Lecturer I (English) – CONTISS 11
    • Qualifications:
      • Ph.D. in English Language or a Master’s Degree with at least eight years of teaching experience.
      • Minimum of five scholarly publications in recognized academic journals.
      • Membership of a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
  3. Lecturer I (Broadcast Option) – CONTISS 11
    • Qualifications:
      • Ph.D. in Mass Communication or a Master’s Degree with at least eight years of teaching experience.
      • Minimum of five scholarly publications in recognized academic journals.
      • Membership of a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
  4. Admin Officer – CONTISS 8
    • Qualifications:
      • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science with at least eight years of cognate experience, preferably in a tertiary institution library.
      • Familiarity with contemporary library software, excellent computer skills, and social media compliance.
      • Minimum of five scholarly publications is an added advantage.
  5. Lecturer I (Mass Communication) – CONTISS 11
    • Qualifications:
      • Ph.D. in Mass Communication or a Master’s Degree with at least eight years of teaching/research experience.
      • Minimum of five scholarly publications in recognized academic journals.
      • Membership of a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
  6. Executive / Personal Assistant – CONTISS 8
    • Responsibilities:
      • Assist the Provost in coordinating administrative and secretarial duties.
      • Work with minimal supervision and handle tasks as assigned by the Provost.
    • Qualifications:
      • Higher National Diploma/First Degree in Social Sciences, Humanities, or Business Administration.
      • At least three years of cognate experience and proficiency in ICT.
      • Membership of relevant professional bodies is an added advantage.
  7. Auditor – CONTISS 8
    • Qualifications:
      • HND or B.Sc. Degree in Accounting or Finance with professional certification (e.g., CPA, ICAN).
      • At least three years of cognate experience.
  8. Accountant II – CONTISS 7
    • Qualifications:
      • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Accounting with at least one year of experience.
      • Professional certification is an added advantage.
  9. Motor Driver / Mechanic – CONTISS 6
    • Qualifications:
      • Government Trade Test Grade I with a minimum of nine years of post-qualification experience.
  10. Principal Librarian – CONTISS 11
    • Qualifications:
      • Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science with at least eight years of cognate experience, preferably in a tertiary institution library.
      • Familiarity with contemporary library software, excellent computer skills, and social media compliance.
      • Minimum of five scholarly publications is an added advantage.
