Global Alliance for Chemical Industry (GACI) is an agrochemical manufacturing entity in Nigeria that formulates and produces high-quality technical grade herbicides and insecticides.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: HSE Officer

Location: Kano
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Brief

  • The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Officer is responsible for ensuring that the workplace adheres to safety regulations and procedures to protect the health and well-being of employees and visitors.
  • The HSE Officer will conduct regular inspections, provide training, and implement safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Ensure that equipment is installed correctly and safely.
  • Conduct safety inductions for new employees and enforce compliance with PPE and safety boot standards.
  • Keep up to date with current health and safety legislation and ensure compliance within the workplace.
  • Undertake risk assessments and identify potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement measures to reduce risks in accordance with client safety procedures.
  • Conduct safety exercises, musters, and drills.
  • Provide health and safety training courses for employees and managers.
  • Make presentations to groups of employees and managers on health and safety topics.
  • Write internal health and safety policies and strategies.
  • Develop and implement safe operational procedures for all work processes.
  • Safely handle hazardous substances and ensure proper storage and disposal.
  • Keep up to date with developments within the profession and integrate new knowledge into practice.
  • Ensure all emergency safety procedures are in place and understood by all employees.
  • Monitor staff movement in and out of the site clinic and oversee drugs provision and consumption.
  • Compile statistics and make recommendations following accidents or incidents.
  • Liaise with relevant authorities to ensure compliance and report on safety standards.
  • Organize and attend health and safety meetings.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks assigned by management.
